HAMADRYADE LODGE
Hamadryade Lodge is a luxurious hotel located in the Upper Amazon (near Misahualli). This ecosystem, even if it is still the Amazon rainforest, is nevertheless different from what we find in the Lower Amazon. We are at an altitude of around 500m with hilly topography. As a result, the climate remains pleasant throughout the year (24°C on average), the absence of swamps allows easy access to remote areas of primary jungle, and of course, we have no mosquitoes or health problems linked to the presence of Malaria.
The Jungle tours that we offer are in the Sumaco/Galleras Biosphere Reserve or in the Jatun Sacha Biological Reserve, where it is possible to discover magnificent primary and secondary jungles and a wide variety of animal life (Saddleback monkeys, cappuccino monkeys,… Tucans, tucanillos, parrots and many more…).
This climate and the absence of swamps in the region offer other advantages: it facilitates hiking by offering a less stifling atmosphere, the firmer ground on these hills and allows easier walking.
The biggest advantage of the Upper Amazon is certainly due to its topography. The wild rivers which have slowly carved out immense canyons are today the site of fantastic river sports centers (Rafting, Kayaking, tubing, etc.), which allows us to offer a greater variety of nature activities to our customers.
At Hamadryade Lodge, we offer a wide range of activities: LAND activities, from the Jungle to indigenous communities, and WATER activities, from swimming in the pure waters of a waterfall to rafting down wild rivers. Whatever your age (even for small children) and condition, we have something beautiful and incredible for you to discover and enjoy.

Itinerary
Day 1+
It takes approximately 4 hours by car to get to the Lodge from the city of Quito, through spectacular landscapes. Arrival at the Lodge, time to visit the Lodge and settle in. After lunch, in the afternoon, relax in our rainwater pool treated with ozone, or, walk 800 meters to visit one of the largest butterfly gardens in Ecuador. The butterfly garden is an ecological project that we built to repopulate this area with butterflies. The indigenous apprentices who work there will be happy to show you these insects and help you, at every step, to help you understand their incredible life. You also have the possibility of enjoying a relaxing massage, next to the fire, in your room, outdoors. Every night of your stay, savor our chef's fusion cuisine.
Day 2+
“Jatun sacha” is the “Great Forest” in the “Kichwa” language; an immense biological reserve, protected for many years. Small and large rivers meander through its primary and secondary jungles, always inhabited by a multitude of animals and many species of birds.
The hike lasts between 5 and 6 hours, over approximately 13 km. It's not a very difficult walk, but it is physical, and will challenge your legs in the late afternoon. Around 3 p.m., you will arrive at the community "Kichwa de Santa Barbara" where you will take a new path, along the river, or, if one is available, a canoe will allow you to descend the calm waters of the Arajuno.
If it's not easy, it's because it's real jungle; thick, muddy and so green. If you want the true Amazon experience, you will want to cross “Jatun Sacha”.
Day 3+
"Shiripuno" is a "kichwa" community, near "Misahualli", a women's association will welcome you in this part of the community to share their culture with you and their knowledge of the life of the "kichwa" in the Amazon forest.
From preparing chocolate, panning for gold, seeing traditional dances, to understanding the realities of “kichwas” life, you will have a pleasant day full of fun and interesting activities.
You can spend a full day or just a morning, enjoying a traditional lunch of “Maito”, fish/chicken cooked in a large leaf with jungle spices. This activity can also be combined with another half-day.
Day 4+
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and depart for your next destination.
